Ever since I googled up Hotel Hablis while they were constructing it, I had been expectantly waiting for their Irish pub to throw its doors open. But I couldn’t visit the pub till this last week when I was invited to be part of the CFG showcase at Moon & Sixpence (hence forth referred to as MASP).
True to its brand image, MASP is absolutely an out & out Irish pub from its core. It is right now the only one of its kind in the entire Indian sub-continent. Built in Ireland, shipped into Chennai and put in place by an Irish team, the place oozes Irishness, brings to my mind the movie scene where Gerard Butler sings “Galway Gal”. MASP is divided into three different sections – Lounge, the main pub area and Patio. Lounge is a cozy place, while Patio caught my attention. Patio looks like a tavern from old times, and it is the smoking zone. Main pub area also has a pool table and shelves & shelves of classics. Prices are not sky high and menu/ordering system is via iPads. As for the line-up of alcohol, you get all your favorite single malts and other top of the line poisons. Only thing I felt as a let down was their un-impressive, or rather the absence of a wine range.
Now coming to the food, my picks from the menu I got to sample, Lamb steak & mushroom pie under a bed of mashed potatoes was just too yummy, Open ravioli was vetted good by both vegetarians and non-vegetarians ( me & my lens didn’t get to eat ), cod mousse, salmon stuffed with crab meat, lamb stew and Bailey’s cheese cake. Now am gonna let my lens do the talking.

Barley & Vegetable broth

I have just fell in love with this place and I’m definitely going back here, and I’m gonna make sure I’m going back on a day that they have an Irish live band playing there. Yes, they have live bands playing there almost every friday night.
